Many of our international patients time their eye care around a visit to the ghats, Sarnath, or an early-morning boat ride along the Ganga. After a routine cataract procedure, gentle daylight activity with protective sunglasses is usually possible from the day following surgery.
We do not organise travel or accommodation ourselves — that is deliberate. Our role is to look after your eyes properly, and to advise which activities are safe for your individual recovery timeline. Everything else, you plan on your own terms.

Yes. We offer paid pre-travel video consultations for international patients. Please share any previous reports over WhatsApp beforehand; the consultation itself is approximately 30 minutes and includes a written summary emailed to you afterwards.
Consultations, printed medical reports and post-operative instructions are provided in English on request. Both consultants are fluent in English; the front-desk team also assists in English throughout your visit.
In most uncomplicated cases, international flights are safe after the first-day post-operative check — typically 24 to 48 hours after surgery. We provide a fitness-to-fly note when required by your airline or insurer.
Yes. All investigation reports (OCT, biometry, fundus photographs, discharge summary) are shared as PDFs by email. Physical copies are also handed over at discharge.
For routine post-operative questions we respond over WhatsApp and email. If a physical examination is required, we help arrange onward care with an ophthalmologist in your country and share your full record with them, with your consent.
Most Indian eye hospitals — including ours — operate on a pay-and-claim basis with international insurers rather than cashless. We provide fully itemised invoices, standardised procedure codes and medical summaries so your insurer can reimburse you after you return home. Please confirm your policy terms with your insurer in advance.
Every international patient is personally seen, examined and counselled by the consultant who will perform the surgery. Trainees are not involved in international-patient consultations.
For a routine cataract patient the answer is yes for gentle activity — a walk along the ghats or a boat ride, in daylight, with sunglasses — after the first-day check. For retina injections, glaucoma workups or squint surgery the recovery plan may differ; we advise this individually at consultation.
Most international enquiries begin with a WhatsApp message. Attach any existing reports (OCT, prescriptions, previous surgeon's notes) and describe the problem in your own words. Dr. Shantanu personally reviews international messages and typically replies within one working day.
