What is a Conjunctival Nevus (Eye Mole)?
A conjunctival nevus is a small mole or pigmented spot on the white part of the eye. It is usually present from childhood or develops in the teenage years and is almost always harmless.
In most cases, it does not affect vision, does not cause pain, and does not need treatment. Your eye doctor may simply recommend regular check-ups and take photographs to make sure it does not change over time.
Although it is very rare, if the spot starts growing quickly, changes in colour or shape, or develops new blood vessels, further evaluation or removal may be advised.
If you notice a new or changing spot on your eye, it is always a good idea to have it examined by an eye specialist.
