Second Opinion Consultation

Confidence and clarity before major eye surgery.

Bring your reports, imaging and prescriptions for an independent, evidence-based second opinion on cataract, retina and glaucoma diagnoses.

Why seek a second opinion?

Eye surgery is a once-in-a-lifetime decision for many people. A structured second opinion confirms the diagnosis, explains alternatives, and gives you peace of mind before proceeding.

Why a second opinion before major eye surgery is never a waste

Cataract surgery, IOL choice, retina injections and laser plans are all lifetime decisions. A structured second opinion clarifies whether the recommendation you have received is the right one for YOUR eye, YOUR lifestyle and YOUR budget. In our experience, a second opinion changes something important about the plan in roughly 1 in 4 cases - a different IOL, a different technique, an alternative timing, or (occasionally) the decision not to operate yet.

What to bring to your second-opinion consultation

Please bring: your current spectacle prescription, any prior eye reports and prescriptions, biometry and IOL power calculation (if done), OCT scans (either printed or on a USB), any imaging done recently (fundus photos, angiography), and your list of medications and systemic conditions. Also bring a written list of your questions - we will answer every one.

What you receive at the end of the consultation

A printed written summary of Dr. Shantanu's opinion, including diagnosis, recommended plan, alternative options, expected outcomes and cost range. Where appropriate, we send a note to your primary ophthalmologist so care remains coordinated. No pressure to switch - many second-opinion patients go back to their original doctor for surgery, better informed.
